Understanding Mentality

When we see what is going on in Iraq, with Sunnis and Shiites killing each other, literally each believing they will go to heaven for killing the other and of course in Israel and now in Egypt, one thing is clear, one cannot impose values – foreign values – values are either believed, role-modelled or not.

We Americans have an exceptionally naïve outlook on the world.

Having now lived in Africa over ten years, I see this clearly.

You can make a revolution, throw out a democratic government, install rebels who have come to free the people, but all they do is create a worse tyranny from a democracy, for the simple reason the mentality of democracy is not there.
