Understanding God

God is one of the most misunderstood dudes in all of human history.
The amount of false or even varied definitions, perhaps, are beyond any other definition.
As one Rabbi told an atheist “in the God you don’t believe in, I don’t either!”
So to have an accurate understanding of God, is to begin to have a relationship.
As Rabbeinu Bechaya indicates, that unless we know God is good, no one seeks a relationship, even if we believe he exists.
So to follow the Aristotelian logical deduction that if a = b and b = c than c = a, and to follow a far greater deduction, namely if a = b than b. definitely equals a.; our sages teach us, that the Tzaddikim (saintly righteous Jews) mirror God.
In our generation, I as many others, had the privilege to know the Lubavitcher Rebbe (himself, who has about as many definitions by people who don’t know him, like God does.)
The Rebbe had no ego – he had no personal agenda – in fact, he really really really! didn’t want to be the Rebbe – he hated recognition – yet simultaneously, the Rebbe was a man of rock solid conviction – so it is very important to get this dichotomy, for many are those whose convictions are so intertwined with their ego that the ego’s barbarity, as we see in Islamic (but usually in all) fundamentalism, becomes the dominating feature of their soul.
Here we have an exact dichotomy, for as strong as the knowledge of truth, is likewise the absolute humility; as firm as their personal standards, is correspondingly, their absolute acceptance of others.
Hence their inspiring others, relates not an iota to their need to be right, rather to their unconditional love!
