Ultimately, the real war of course is between our souls, for we have three separate souls with three separate desires: The Godly soul, is our love of all that is noble, just, kind, sweet, loving! The rational soul, is in love with all that it can understand, like a calculator loving to do math! And the animal soul is in love with that which is instinctive to it, from the four foundations: of Fire: arrogance (and its corollary anger, when getting slighted even in perception) Water: enjoying instinctive pleasures, Air: comedy and frivolity “fun,” Earth: laziness and depression
