ultimately life is a sequence – as we know from Kabbalah, everything has a three part system – the first part is the goal, the second is the steps that create the original intent – in other simple words: number one, man needed to have an ego for without desiring there is no source of desires – but then in order to make man a conscious being (for as long as he is dominated by desire, as we see clearly in drug addiction, he is incapable of rationality) God had to crush the ego (in fact, amazingly this is the basic sequence how God made life, that for the first two years or so all of our desires are met, so we become desiring machines, but then (hopefully) we get told “No!” so now we learn we are just little things controlled by bigger people, this crushing of the ego is what allows the mind to function (which ironically it is why those who develop an ego, lose their minds, as we explained elsewhere) once the mind has free reign we can discern – eventually our discernment – our search for truth will lead us to God’s original goal, that we, from our discernment choose God and then in return, God chooses us and eventually we walk hand in hand
