True Life

This weeks Parshah is Chayeh Sarah
The life of Sarah
Amazingly we find the verse states twice in one sentence the heading, the life of Sarah.
The Zohar the mystical commentary on the Bible/Torah teaches that, as when Sarah descended to Egypt she kept her sanity, holiness, purity and did not descend into the insanity, immorality and despicable traits of the Egyptian culture – such a person has real life!
The same thing is in our times – as the Torah / Bible is really a book of guidance for a happy life in all times – if we retain our sanity and do not descend into insanity, retain our morality and do not imitate immorality in cultures that have savagery, barbarity based on simply a lack of education as to the difference between right and wrong, and most importantly if we cherish our status as God’s chosen people, chosen to shine the candle of goodness, kindness, love, affection, warmth, consideration, growth and compassion to those around us – then we are truly alive.
