Today’s Hayom Yom teaches us a very profound thing, the Hebrew word for light and secret are numerically equivalent (as every Hebrew letter is also a number) so the Baal Shem Tov teaches “whoever knows the secret behind things can shed light on them” – in other words, we live in a world which is dark, the very Hebrew word for world (and the Hebrew word is the Divine expression of what the thing represents) is comprised of the word “to conceal,” so our world conceals the truth; but if you know the truth, then you have light – so what is the truth of our existence? – is the physical world, “The Universe” – is the physical world, but like a computer screen, in which we are 3d avatars?! – and if it is, what is the purpose of that?! – so by understanding the secret of our universe we live in light, not darkness – and the secret, as we mentioned multiple times is simple: number one, for us to exist there had to be darkness, for if there was only God’s presence, like placing the sun on earth, the earth would be consumed; so the darkness itself is an act of supreme love! number two, the purpose of our existence is obviously not to be fooled by the darkness, rather the darkness gives us also freedom of choice, hence the goal of life is to use that freedom to increase the light!
