To paraphrase one of the most important Chassidic teachings: always realize those who have less than you in terms of living standards (and if you live in the west, you live better than literally billions of people by a measure of a hundred times) but when it comes to goodness and kindness and moral achievement, always look at those who are exemplary and ask God to help you become more like them!
