To paraphrase Einstein, there are only 2 ways of looking at reality. The first is that reality is set: operates according to certain principles and axioms and rules, and effectively all you need to do – whether it was a pagan religion or a scientific belief in absolute laws of nature, figure out what are the rules, and follow them. Ironically, even religion can be somewhat akin – but the truth is much deeper than that. For the second way of looking at reality is like it is a game, that is being always generated and we had to go through 3 stages. The first is a stage of birth. The first 2,000 years, G-d birthed us into existence, and the child up to the age of 2 was basically becoming self-centered. Which of course is important if you wish to have a self. But then comes the age of education, the 2,000 years of Torah. In the 2,000 years of Torah, we learn good behavior – you teach the child to say “please,” and “thank you” and not to be rude and cruel, which is the essence of Judaism – as the Rebbe, says it boils down to goodness and kindness. But then you come to the ultimate, which is the original intention as Kabbalah says, “The end was the first intent,” which is that G-d says, “Man is like a tree of the field.”… In other words, just like the tree after it is firmly rooted in the ground and nourished from the sun and the rain, it now has the capacity to continuously expand !
