To grow or not

One of the fundamental teachings of the Rebbe which in fact revolutionized our entire approach to life is the notion of perpetual growth.
Seemingly, perpetual growth is impossible.
Can a human continually transform himself?!
Is there not a highest ideal?!
But as the Rebbe was an expert on who God is, he likewise was an expert on the ability of a human to merge with this Divine intent.
Succinctly, until the Rebbe, no-one ever thought we are capable of infinite growth.
Sure everyone – with common sense and intuition – realized we should not remain as narcissistic as a two year old.
Perhaps even become selfless in compassion.
But no one was capable of perceiving, that if God is a creator, and creation is no more than a few magic words, why can’t, with some more words, a new evolution in creation occur?!
Similarly and perhaps best described in this story: Rabbi Even Yisroel who truly has achieved many great things – translating the Talmud being a well-known one – once wrote the Rebbe how he is involved in four projects, and someone has suggested another, which time will not permit, so which of the four should he drop? the Rebbe replied, he should take the fifth and look for a sixth – in a worldview: when it is God’s will, not mans, that creates transformation, the only question is, am I willing to let go of my paradigms, either based on fear of failure or abhorrence of effort, and let God’s magic work through me?!
