To be dissociated from people, out of fear (or disgust) is not hard, nor good – to be naively in love, like a liberal, with no ability to conceive that others are capable of all the cruelty man has shown, is well foolish; but to both love and be beyond people simultaneously, now that’s the Jewish way!
