Through understanding we become sensitive The Rebbe

There are three operating systems in which a person can be influenced

Mind: this is the ideal state, where our minds rule us. So we consciously make choices. Mind people are usually quietish sensible practical.

The second is heart, these are more emotional people prone to romanticism but also fallible to resentment, essentially their loves and fears are in control of them and most people fall into this category in the west.

The lowest level is the ego but for these people too we need to feel compassion for the greatest irony there is, is that ego is a sign of lack of ego, for the greater one’s self esteem the less they consider themselves and the worse someone’s self esteem the more they consider themselves, so in other words a bully is precisely the person who hates himself because his role models / caregivers etc. caused a negative self perception (based on their own negative self image etc.)
