Three systems exist

Our heart / instincts, in this system we simply are attracted to what is pleasurable, and stay away from what is painful; it is this system we are (like animals, as a child is called a little animal) born into.
The next, is our pride and shame – unlike animals, that don’t have pride nor shame, humans – from about the age of two, develop identities, and we try to protect these identities from shame and gain pride!
And finally, and all importantly, good: what is noble, just, kind, compassionate, and bad, what is ignoble, unjust, unkind, inconsiderate – our Divine imagine, within.
