Three possible state there are

The state of love – naively believing that everyone is wonderful – as children do comparing everyone to their parent’s love for them

 

The state of fear / hate – naively seeing everyone as criminals as most adults do

 

And the state of truth – understanding that only through accepting God’s authority, do we rise above selfishness and into selflessness
