This is perhaps the greatest but truest irony of life – we like to increase our status, women marry men in the assumption it adds to their identity (which is why they happily change their surname etc. etc.) men are happy to serve a boss, as their working title, makes them think, somehow they have upped their game – but in truth, all we have become, is a glorified servant to an ungrateful master – in truth, similar to the saying of our sages s/he who despises honor gets honored; and as Kabbalah teaches “s/he who is humble, is great versus s/he who thinks their great is really nothing,” the goal is to actually: nullifying your very desire for status!
