There’s only one thing that we need to know and that is that all Behavior is motivated by a motive, and unless we understand the motive we don’t understand Behavior, and all Behavior has one of three possible motives: the first is love which isn’t always selfless as it may just be in my interest, the second is fear which usually comes from someone maliciously destroying your sense of security and the third is the perpetual War between our desires and our convictions
