There is no doubt, the return of Jews into Israel is paving the way into the messianic era – the Rebbe, going so far, as declaring the Russian exodus from Russia, and its return of hundreds of thousands of Jews into Israel as the beginning of the Biblical prophecies of the return of Jews; yet the Rebbes did not advocate Aliyah; the Rebbe qualified that messianic prophetic declaration with the implicit directive that we are to remain doing good work in exile – if that is where God put us – There is an entire Mizrachi movement dedicated to a theory that the return in 1948 and the establishment of Israel, was the beginning of the messianic era.

In fact, the Lubavitcher Rebbe clearly said, this is an erroneous position – one being questioned by the very proponents of that movement, today.
The simple question is, why?
The answer is, life is not about a land.
A land is about life.
We are the land.
Jerusalem is our heart.
Our Israel – our bodies – our heart / Jerusalem, must be filled with the center of Jerusalem, the epicenter of the world, the Holy of Holies, standing on Mount Moriah, on the Temple Mount, in the Beis Hamikdosh.
Quite simply, as it was; so are we! the receptacle for the infinite light, of God.
