There is a meaningful lesson from this week’s Torah portion, that is, the subject how Moses sent spies to spy out Israel, and they came back with a negative report, which angered God, and he commanded that they remain in the desert for forty years – But wasn’t that exactly what they were meant to do? – The answer is no. – And it relates to the most important psychological distinction and the difference between all that is holy and the reverse God-forbid! For Moses sent them with the instruction that they should report only on how to conquer the land, yet when they came back, they offered their “opinion” that it was too dangerous – in this, namely adding their own fear, we impede what can be a supernatural existence, into imprisoning ourselves.
