There is a fascinating Medrash (the secrets of the Torah) in which (effectively) God says, why does Jacob cry? (for Jacob lamented his son’s Josef disappearance and though prophecy, the future exile) “I am turning Josef in to a Prime-Minister – The exile is only to remove the subconscious evil!”

You see, as (sort of mentioned in the last blog) we all have subconscious evil – it’s called an ego – the proof we have an ego, is, when its provoked i.e. if someone provokes you – if you had no ego – for example, 99% of animals (that live biologically with no self-concept) then like an ant, insect or pretty much any animal (not dependent on you, for then it develops a attachment survival instinct) you could curse it, from today to tomorrow, and it could care less
