There are the three ways to view reality – the first is that everyone is a saint, (which is immature thinking, and we see the bizarre consequences in which people that have this view, mainly people that come from good countries, and they themselves are good, and wish to believe good… they will then believe that malicious evil people, actually are victims, instead of aggressors.) the second kind of thinking is the exact opposite, when we are coming from a space of insecurity, and we wish to protect ourselves, so our mind believes that everyone is a jerk (and this of-course is game theory, which many Nobel prizes have been won.) but the truth, which is only found in Jewish mysticism is that in essence, we are all good, but there is a Satan who can dominate us, and unless, exactly as God said to Kayin, "you dominate him, and you place your behavior under God, then he will dominate you"
