The lowest most dismal is jealousy hence hatred hence anger hence pathetic destructiveness hence eternal shame.
The second is the desire for pleasure and not to feel pain, this is perhaps what has been so aptly termed “lives of quiet desperation.”
However the existential meaninglessness of this is the ultimate goal, for through the crucible of anxiety, displacement. meaninglessness, the soul, the inner essence finds its way out of the womb in which the body concealed it.
Through the search for the truth, the truth finds you.
As the saying, when the student is ready the master appears.
Then there is the initial joy of the reunion of a soul of truth, and Torah; the God of truth; and then the true challenge to stay the course, to not fall into bad habits, to be Jewish despite a Gentile society, to be moral despite a immoral society, to be selfless despite a selfish society (not to condemn anyone, but to say that others have not been reborn yet).
