There are five primary motives (and everything we do actually comes from one of these:)

Now generally speaking, there are things that cause pleasure, and things that cause pain, and we are hence attracted (naturally addicted) to that which will cause us pleasure (as we like feeling good) and we retract (naturally phobic) of that which will give us pain (and when we have a conscious memory, we subconsciously get either attracted or repulsed like the two poles of a magnetic.)

However beyond this realm, lies two others: for there is the conscience, the soul – hence we have morality, but in contrast to a our moral side, we also have an immoral sadistic ego (which is why many are immoral and sadistic, for if it wouldn’t give them some kind of pleasure, there would be no motive.)

Finally there is the solution to all our problems – ask and follow (for in this mechanism, the ego who cannot take credit, hence delude you that you are great, doesn’t fill you; for when you are filled by the perception of your greatness (which is not a conscious acknowledgment, but a subconscious kind of feeling “full” – feeling oneself! – this in turn causes the promulgation of sadism.)
