The whole world was made for Avraham Avinu. The Rebbe teaches, Bereshis tells us about a perfect world. Man is placed in the Garden of Eden. But the problem with perfection is it can’t handle imperfection. And after 1,500 years of gross imperfection, the world must be destroyed. But then, after Noach offers the sacrifice, G-d recreates the structure of reality in a new world in which man is not given limitless life. Rather, his years are up to 120. He is humbled, and in his humility, G-d says, Such a world I love, but the ultimate is Avraham Avinu. Because Avraham represents a new world order in which man, instead of seeking his personal benefit, begins to think about what is the purpose. And G-d Himself says, “You and I are now partners in creation!”
