The way people develop

For a person to love – they must have received unconditional love

Assuming, they did receive unconditional love, then usually they will have a rosy picture of all people

However if at some point, someone becomes jealous of the love their hearts hold, and often this may be, that the mother unconditionally loved the child, but the father who doesn’t identify, obviously to the same level as the mother; and if the father is jealous, hence the father will verbally etc. abuse the child (under the guise of discipline) creating the loss of the self-love in the child.

Once a person loses love for themselves, they get jealous of others who do love themselves; and they too subconsciously resent / are jealous of the love for one self that others have; they then begin to see faults in the loving people (antisemites, which came up with a million and one wrong reasons to hate the Jews – the common denominator was hate, and the result were rationalizations to manifest the hate) once the rationalizations are firmly in place, then to the extent one can hurt without getting hurt (bullies pick on people they don’t think will hurt them back) then their anger gets to work

But, and here’s the important thing, studies show, people can be healed through love

So if you and I decide to forgive and love others unconditionally; as the Rebbe caused so much self-love through his admiration, adoration and genuine love for us, caused ripple effects from him to his students, to their students, to those whom they come into contact, hence, yes today, you and I can change people’s perception of themselves, and start a chain reaction of positive self-image, through regarding others positively!
