The war of life

Life is a war

It is actually a very simple war (though it took me, a second-rate philosopher with first rate access (having been brought up in a Jewish group that dedicates itself to Jewish mysticism and thank G-d spent many decades in its study) 40 years to figure it out – so don’t feel so bad)

You see this is the war:

We have two kings fighting for our heart and soul!

The first king – at least in terms of birth order – for it is the one who implants itself in our instinctual side – is the ego.

The ego has a single drive: to get its way! – when little children throw tantrums it is amazing how you can distract them – the thing is, why would that work? – because fundamentally it is not what they want that they want, but it is getting their way.

Through our life, our insane ego lives with us – in fact, ironically the more it gets its way (for example a spoiled child) the more tantrums it will throw.

On the flip side is, what is actually worth getting… – this takes deep introspection and truth be told, because our ego is so part of us, a person is incapable of being truly objective, for one ever knows, if the reason I want something, is because it is worth wanting or because I want it.

Hence the only mechanism to getting what is worth getting, is to submit to God’s will; for God is like your best friend – he doesn’t impose, rather recommends and of-course being God knows.
