The truth nothing but… Kabbalah has this very bizarre notion that before our world existed another – (though spiritual) in this world there was tremendous light but not strong vessels (to contain the light) and so just like if you put too much energy into a light bulb it will smash – millions of little pieces scattered and they became the fabric of our reality (this is a massive massive subject) but then God made the next universe which is ours – our universe is one in which there are many vessels but not much light – and the ultimate is when we merge these two universes
