The traps and the truth

Who are we
“I think therefore I am” but who is the am that is thinking??
Ultimately as is obvious, we are our soul – the Divine life-force.
But it’s not so simple, because as you cannot see, touch, feel your soul, as you begin to form the very notion that you exist in the earliest subconscious of being in the womb and then being a baby (for if you have a need which gets fulfilled, you figure your emotional needs are real – we see this so clearly, for unfortunately children left in Romanian orphanages with no love simply become zombies; hence our very identity is tied into the need / fulfillment.)
Now what happens is we fall in love with ourselves – which we define as our desire.
In addition, as our sages teach, every living thing desires its existence – hence we have almost a built-in extraordinary drive to persistently live.
The thing is that are you the person you assumed you were, namely, your needs/wants?
Or are you a life-force like a battery, that based on the machine that you were put into, has certain functions.
If my soul was in say a cockroach would I not feel that the cockroach’s needs and wants are mine?! -and certainly say feminine maternal instincts etc.
So in actual fact, as Kabbalah teaches, we can live in two traps or one redemption.
The first trap is the belief that my desires are me (need we mention how addiction proves this trap.)
The second trap is that my need to survive is me – again it may be a strong instinct but if you didn’t choose it, it cannot be your choice.
Then there is the truth – everything is really God – and I have the choice to become God.
