The Tolner Rebe writes about the Lubavitcher Rebbe that The Lubavitcher Rebbe was a man of dichotomies – on one hand he was the most open person in the world, on the other, he was absolute in terms of his convictions – on one hand he mourned the death of every Arab, on the other he believed to not give an inch of Israel away – the truth is the Rebbe was not a man of dichotomies, we are! – for it is the easiest thing in the world to assume a position – join a tribe.. – WE believe in a. or b. – but a person who is wise, looks for what is right, and hence what is right is to be open to all people, as well as have absolute principles: what is right is to mourn any and every death, yet not to allow bloodthirstily killers your backyard – and this process of us learning, that there is no absolute, there is no position, rather, as the Previous Rebbe said Judaism is the good in every good, religion, political etc. system – and the ultimate goodness simply is understanding that we shall eternally be learning what goodness is, for it is the very staking of “virtue/s” that is the heart of dissension
