The story behind the story

To understand reality you need to know not the story, rather the story behind the story.
One of the principles of Kabbalah: as God is infinite, there is always a story behind the story, actually, infinitely!
But there comes a point in which the story is told.
Everyone wants to know who and why created this world.
The theories are possibly as vast humanity itself, ranging from deifying cows, to the more sane Abrahamic conclusion.
But even that, is only what it is, not why.
And hence Judaism – the revealed prescription for life – is also only what it also is, not why.
The story behind the story is quite simple and it begins with the Baal Shem Tov who revealed a new God to humanity, well the story behind the story of God.
Until then God was see like a king, harsh, tyrannical – “do what I say” kind of guy.
The Baal Shem Tov forever changes that, saying “God loves you more than parents who gave birth to a child in their elder years would.”
“God seeks your sincerity not so much your perfection.”
“God ultimately is here to help refine you.”
Suddenly it shifted from a God we need to serve, to a God who in is love, like a parent, is serving us.
But that’s not all, according to the Baal Shem Tov this God is interacting with you all the time – in the leaf flipping over as you walk by it – in the chirping of the birds – certainly in the people you meet, even sometimes in your own head.
And as clarified by the Rebbe, it all makes sense, for how can we anthropomorphize God (see him as great limited human) as he is infinite, so too are his communications, so too are your shifts.
For the story behind the story, is, that it was all an act of love.
The concealment was truly revelation.
And the revelation is concealment.
For the ultimate truth is you and God are one.
But as you are you, and God is God, in your union you become something greater than the sum of its parts.
A conscious being capable of choice, good or evil, who chooses, instead of living a foolish useless life, to grow continually, to give unstintingly, to become God and your and societies pride and joy.
