The Secret Of Happiness

We find there were twins, in fact the progenitors of the Jewish people and the western people, Yaakov (Jacob) and Eisav.
Both happened to be very wealthy, one was happy, the other not.
In a one sentence interchange, the secret to happiness is revealed.
When Yaakov tried to appease Eisav with fabulous gifts – Eisav said “keep your money I have a lot” – Yaakov said, “No take it, I have everything.”
Now is it possible that anyone has everything?
As our sages teach: who is happy, whoever is happy with what they have?
The trouble in life is, the way to be happy with what you have is not believe that you are entitled to what you have.
This takes a conscious effort.
Within us all is ego.
Ego assumes that whatever we have, was earned – once we are a success story, our new desire is to earn more, eventually our ability to match our expectations ends and hence self hate begins.
