The Science Of Unity

It’s the one thing we all want.
My friend Dr. Fasbinder wants world peace so much his children actually gave it to him – a beautiful sign.
But of course, signs have not brought world peace, but certain things have created unity.
By analyzing them, we can see the psychological reason, behind the unity present in unified groups, and understand how this unity can extend not only within groups, but globally.
First and foremost, the unity of the family unit should be mentioned – why do families bond better than strangers? – after all, are we not separate people – but hold on, “he or she is my brother or sister,” “mother or father,” “husband or wife,” ah’ that’s the secret explains Miamonidies, a great Jewish scholar and philosopher, codifier of Judaism and celebrated doctor (who took it from superstition to science) You see, unity is based on seeing oneself in another; the reason I love my brother more than I love a stranger, is because I understand that we share very close bonds, namely our parents, and the reason people love their spouse, because “she is MY wife” “he’s MY husband” you get it.
Now I can’t say I am a sociologist, but it appears to me a fair statement, that generally speaking, Jews have had the greatest levels of unity – we do not find a single instance of a Jewish civil war, except when, the 12 tribes, disgusted at a rape in the tribe of Benjamin, repulsized from such a barbarity, they took up arms and even then eventually allowed them back in – furthermore, even the separation of two states in Israel, the northern and southern kingdom, was not induced by the Jewish people, rather resulted from the king’s desire of power, thus separating the people.
Remarkably, though, as they say, “in England they politely oblige you a parking space, but will walk past, if you lie dying in the street; and in Israel they’ll kill you over feeling you stole their parking space, but if you are lying in the street, everyone will personally attend to you” hence, though perhaps petty arguments are now amongst Jews, general speaking, Jews – amazingly, built a country welcoming in Jews, even never known to them, over two thousand years, worldwide – a true sense of family!
Why would this be – many are the reasons Jews identify with one another, perhaps it is because they too are a family – perhaps it is as the Rebbe, a mystic-saint suggests, God creates a bond that when two Jews meet, a kinship is felt – perhaps they feel a shared sense of destiny, coupled with a compassionate heart for their past misery – truth be told, it’s like the Indian I once met carving arrows for eagle scouts – dedicated to selflessly at his own expense send a Indian arrow, to an eagle scout – I enquired what drives him – and looking at this bearded religious Jew he asked “what drives you?” – I didn’t really know – so he said “it is in my blood.”
The bottom line is, blood is thicker than water, but blood is not red; blood is love, as Aristotle said “love is one soul in two bodies.”
The Rebbe offers the following simple but accurate scientific mechanism to bring world peace – truly the only way to do so – each and every one of us shares this fundamental trait in common – and mentioned, when we identify, we love – the trait is, we are all soldiers in God’s army; we all have been purposefully made to serve a higher cause – though our mission may be different, our commander’s intent – namely to fill the world with light, love and compassion, the same!
