The Scandal Of The Mind

I just came across a book called The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind – its basic premise – written by an evangelical professor – is that evangelicals don’t cherish the sciences, art etc.
I believe he is mistaken – human beings always are transitional – we are by nature truly tiny little creatures – very weak – very dependent – So once we have somehow achieved security – food security – physical security – we begin to dream – we begin to fantasize – “if only…” – The lowest of these fantasies is the fantasy of power – “If only I controlled everyone else..” – Once we had a our fair share of murder, then we decide, power is tyranny (note, France – America – the entire Europe – and most counties joined the notion of democracy) Then we begin with our next fantasy –“ if only I could have unbridled sex” – (note, the hippies’s free love – pornography) But when we realize, that too is stupid, we begin to search for the truth – ironically, the mind can only tell us what isn’t true, it can never tell us what is! – For science has reached the point (though many do not know this) where in EVERY FIELD! it now acknowledges it has absolutely no idea, and the tools of logic that we have never will; namely, what we see, from atoms popping in and out of existence, DNA replicating itself, forces of gravity holding the world together (though no-one has ever seen this force) is all unnatural – so the quest for science, ultimately leads one to the acknowledgment of God!
