The nature of God’s goodness

By zevi770 · January 10, 2016

Harold Kushner in his book “why do bad things happen to good people?” writes, that there are three possible realities: the first is, everything God does is good; everything God does is bad; or we don’t understand everything God does

Obviously the latter is the truth

But what is the mechanism?

The answer is first and foremost in order to understand what is good, you need to understand what is bad.

The greatest mistake we make is we think ego is a good thing.

Generally speaking, whatever we desire we label good irrespective of the consequence for we are focused on the emotional high.

So as there is a desire for recognition, we think that recognition is good

The truth is, that there is nothing worse than ego, for the consequence of recognition, fame – thinking you are great, is that now you become evil as we see clearly – certainly the many evil people that existed would have not been nearly (by a degree of million%) as evil, had they not had power, which doesn’t only mean the ability, but actually the desire.

You see when a person feels important this sets up a subconscious desire to get their way.

We see this clearly in toddlers, for the two year old, used to getting his way cannot tolerate when he doesn’t, but as he learns that he will not get his way – if his parents are wise enough not to give in – he adjusts his reality and thereby becomes a happy child (which is why spoiled children are patently unhappy.)

So that which we desire so much is actually exceptionally detrimental.

So the first state of God’s goodness is actually in not giving us what we want.

However, though getting our ego pumped up (which usually comes from getting our way) is evil, nevertheless, we all have a Divine soul in us, that likewise seeks exactly what God seeks, namely, love compassion and messianic utopia.

So conversely God says to us – if you will listen to me then this will become your and eventual the world’s reality
