the most important truth in life is to realize that because there is, let’s call it a database that records everything that everyone does – so if someone is mean to you, two things have happened, number one they have made a bad choice and God will either make them ask for forgiveness, or one day prove to you that they were punished for that – and the other thing is, that obviously God decided that perhaps you needed to be a little humbler, so we should not take personal offense, and the example of this is that King David was unfortunately chased from his own kingdom by his own son, and as he was leaving, the head of the Sanhedrin Shimmy ben Geir, for whatever reason started to curse him and his general Yoav said, “let me go kill him!” and the King said “No, don’t, because Hashem has told him to do this” Now where did Hashem tell Shimmy ben Geira to curse David? But rather David understood, that if a word comes from a person’s mouth, it can only come about from Hashem, so though that person will be punished, as he eventually was many years later… at the same time, the fact of the matter is, that he had to be shamed
