THE MEANING BEHIND PROTESTS

By zevi770 · October 17, 2011

Mother Teresa refused an invitation to an anti-war demonstration. “If you invite me to a pro-peace demonstration I will attend” she said.

To be for, or against, is not only a slight difference; for in the words of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kotzk “what is the difference between someone who loves truth / goodness and someone who hates falsehood / evil? The difference is, that the person who loves truth / goodness rests not until he or she (or like Jews the entire culture) discovers the truth and goodness in others, life, God and society; while he, she, or even societies (like protesters) rests not until he, she etc. find the evil falsehood in others.”

No one is completely righteous, no-one is completely evil; however the truth is, who we are is discernable in what we search for.
