The many faces of reality

What is real?

Is a dog real?

Not really, a dog is a description of a canine who has instincts that are programmed to bark when you go by etc. etc.

Are you real? now, that’s a good question?!

If you base yourself on who you are instinctively, say, born to cry, get fed, go to the bathroom etc. is that who you are?

You still sort of do that – but is that who you are?!

You see, there are multiple realities that inhabit one home.

Just as in a home, there may be a father with his personality, mother with hers, children with theirs, animals with theirs, vegetables with theirs, and even plants, rocks, in fact, everything has somewhat a personality, but then again, if we don’t consider a dog to be real, only a description of what it does, the big question is, who are we?

And the answer is, quite simply, to understand reality we need to go into the very essence of truth.

Before the big bang etc. etc. into the only truth that we can say is true, for its existence predates existence, it’s being is not a composite of different personalities, or even one preprogrammed code, it is the first being who has freedom to choose (anything) God!

But then again, can’t we ask the same question on God; is God real? well put it this way, whatever he is, as everything we consider real emanates from his existence, though you cannot touch him like you can touch a person, you can’t see him like you can see a dog, he is real, as he’s existence.

But then the question is, what else besides him is real?

Ironically, only you and I, for though the dog may have a personality, it is not a personality he chooses!

Though an angel may sing lofty praises to God, it is not a song he composed.

Only you and I with all our idiosyncrasies, with our choices both good and bad is real!
But the truth is, are we choosing? – For here’s the real truth, if we are reacting, living a life based on instincts we too (no offence here) are no different to the dog.

Following pleasure / pain based instincts and going in its direction. – The only time we are real is when we are like God, when we exercise freedom to choose and follow that choice no matter the consequences, for that and only that, is what sets us apart from those things that seem, but aren’t, real!
