The love deficit

By zevi770 · July 4, 2012

What does everyone want, but fail to get?

Love!

But why?

They say a story of God giving a tour of heaven and hell:

So this guy – newly arrived – gets the tour, and first he comes to heaven and sees long tables laden with a repast (not bad thinks he.)

Then he goes to hell, and also sees long tables laden with the exact same repast!

WHAT! he whats.

“This is the exact same location.”

“Ah” says the all knowing guide, “just wait.”

You see, on the table, the cutlery reached across the table, so in hell when people would come, wars would break out, because no one could get the food into their mouth, but in heaven everyone patiently served each other, so not only did they have food, they had love as well.

The Torah ultimately is a guide on how to love your friend as much as yourself!

In life, certainly the secular world, it’s all about me, “my pleasure,” “my ego,” “getting ahead” (ahead of what, but anyway…)

In Judaism, it’s all about others, helping this one, charity, giving to ones wife, educating ones kids.
