The lie that changed the world

By zevi770 · February 22, 2012

In a beautiful garden long ago lived a man and a woman

Tended by God himself, surrounded by every type of delicious fruit and let us imagine vegetables with nothing but gratitude in their hearts and love for each other, the blissful union of marital intimacy and spiritual integrity was manifested.

And then came a lie, a lie so big that to this very day it exists.

And it is only in the destruction of this lie that man can once again reenter into the Garden of Eden and the associated bliss.

You see man began as a single human being.

The clothing of man to begin with were clothing of light, for in Hebrew the word for skin interchanged with an Alef instead of an Ayin at the start, means light.

The light of man’s outer shell, housing his soul, was so great that even its darkest part made sunlight seem as the moon.

It is only after man ate of the forbidden fruit that his skin ceased shining.

In the future era we too shall posses light exteriors.

So what could have caused such a fall.

Well lies are an amazing thing.

They need not be true to be believed.

And this was the lie.

You and God are not one.

You see, when the serpent, which lives within each of us, the Yetzer Hara, approached Eve to convince her to eat of the tree, he lied to her, saying, that God is afraid of you.

He doesn’t want you to challenge his authority.

The “I” of man was born.

Now there is nothing wrong with believing that you exist, but not as an independent being, rather as a being that is dependant, literally like an umbilical cord, like a embryo, a fetus in the womb – connected to the source of life, God, constantly.

But the lie that has gone on since then is so simple that it is almost laughable, so powerful that it is certainly cryable.

The lie is that you and God are not interdependent, but independent.

It is this lie that allows us to imagine that the satan within us is us.

Once we realize that the reveres is true…

The God, our soul, our highest love, compassion, mercy, is who we are; then who is that satanic, angry, vengeful side of us???

Well, he used to have two legs, but now as our sages state, he is a demon sitting between your heart, and as the previous Rebbe teaches, he is an antisemite!

All that you think will make you content through listening to him  would be no different then having Hitler advising your future.

Having a terrorist suggesting a peace plan.

It is the source of all depression and misery.

So now the question needs to be asked, is the God, the goodness, or the selfish instincts, more you?
