The leaderless leaders

It states, before Moshaich comes, we will realize that the only one who cares, is God; hence, we will abandon faith in all leaders and we will turn only to God!

Though I am not sure, I heard an interpretation that in the generation preceding Moshaich the meaning of the Talmud that the face of the leaders is like the face of a dog, means, that just as when you walk your dog it always turns its head to see where you are, similarly, the leaders of today are busy polling the populace, so if the leaders are looking at the followers the followers must choose a new leader, which is God!
