The interplay between the holy and the mundane – this is the greatest conundrum that exists – you see, ironically we all are part and hence gravitate to both – we have a Divine side of us, which simply wishes to escape this world, we have a body side to us which is literally from this world – it is its home, it is living from the earth, on the earth, and can think of no other reality – The truth is, without both, life is meaningless – for without a striving for something higher, life is obviously meaningless, but likewise, without the physical body, you simply wouldn’t exist (for the soul is part of G-d, so only when the soul comes into your body, do you as an individual have existence) So the solution is neither escape nor resignation, but the unique Chassidic idea, that every good deed, every positive thought, speech and action, adds light, transforming the mundane into the spiritual – this can be seen with love
