The infinite wavelength
What none of us get, is how the infinite can be both finite and infinite simultaneously.
There is a story of the Tzemach Tzedek who said, “the Baal Shem Tov took all the mystical wisdom (Kabbalah) until him and took it to the next level, then the Alter Rebbe to the next, the Mitteleh Rebbe (whose festival of liberation it is today) to the next” and then he was quiet – Reb Hillel Paritcher was in the audience and he said “and the Tzemach Tzedek to the next.”
It stands to reason therefore, that as the Rebbe is the culmination of all their wisdom, he took it to the highest and he certainly did!
I asked Rabbi Wagner what was the Rebbe’s uniqueness and he said Atzmus.
Yes the Rebbe was a big fan of Atzmus.
You see, every dimension in the world, even in wisdom and even in the holy wisdom, both revealed and concealed (Kabbalah) is a dimension – for example, there is the animal kingdom, an animal is not a rock and vice-versa – there are different types of wisdom, the study of biology is not the study of psychology nor astronomy, even within Judaism where all things are interlinked, the simple meaning is not the esoteric, but one thing all things created by God have in common, is, they are bound by their dimension – the very fact something is, already means it isn’t something else.
However the only thing that both is and isn’t simultaneously, both can be a rock and God, is of-course God.
In practical words, this is the new revelation of Chassidus.
Many people cannot comprehend how Judaism existed for three thousand years before a new Torah was revealed – as such they feel it is almost blasphemous.
However the exact opposite is true, for to limit God to anything you can comprehended, is well pretty blasphemous.
However to say God cannot conceal himself to the extent that he can be comprehended, is also.
And this is why it is so hard to get atzmus, for atzmus is how two mutually opposing states can exist simultaneously.
In simple words, the Baal Shem Tov, as all the Rebbes (as we too can become and shall, as it states “in the messianic era every Jew will be a great prophet”) didn’t innovate anything, he merely was so humble that it allowed for the new undiluted dimension of the Divine soul to manifest.
