The Greatness Of Jewish Women and Girls – Especially Of Our Generation

By zevi770 · January 10, 2014

Our sages teach, it is only in the merit of the Jewish women and girls that G-d redeems us!

In other words, it is obviously good deeds that bring redemption; but what are those good deeds?

Well Kabbalah teaches, that our generation is a reincarnation of the generation that left Egypt – and just as it was the merit of the righteous women of that generation, it is in the merit of those same reincarnated righteous women, that Moshiach (the complete and final redemption) will come!

In the generation of Egypt, a number of incredible qualities stand out:

First and foremost, as today; is the faith, confidence, that the righteous women have in the redemption itself – not being fooled by the clouds of Golus (exile) – they can perceive the sunlight behind the clouds!

It is for this reason – both then and now – they already have tambourines prepared to celebrate (in a Tznuisdikeh / modest) manner, the subsequent redemption!

Furthermore, the prophetess of redemption was Miriam (she prophesized the birth of Mosses etc.) and her name itself Miriam (meaning bitter) indicates her bitterness of exile!

Are these two traits not contradictory?

Can one, both be bitter over exile, while confident over redemption?!

In fact, they are complimentary!

For she, who is confident in redemption, like one who eagerly anticipates her beloved, is likewise somewhat disappointed at the delay (while he who has no faith in redemption, like one who gives up hope of seeing his beloved, is despondent, not bitter.)

Additionally we find, the Jewish women were first instructed via Mosses, based on G-d’s expressed will, in the New Mitzvos of the Torah – G-d told Mosses to tell them gently, for he knew he could rely on their great intuition to perceive its value.

When it came to donations for the Mishkan – G-d’s home in the desert – the women exceeded both with alacrity and dedication their husbands in their contribution (both monetary as well as weaving etc. the materials needed.)

They also refused to take part in the terrible sin of the golden calf, once again demonstrating their deeper intuition and trust in all that G-d and his servant Mosses said.

But what is it, in our generation which will cause the coming of the Moshiach??!!

What is unique in their behavior, that is so great, that redemption itself is merited?!!

It takes no great sociologist to see we are engulfed in chaos – dark clouds of confusion, encompass modern man.

Like ships without rudders, like logs bobbing up and down aimlessly in a vast ocean, we are.

Yet in the homes of these righteous women, shines a light of truth, a light of peace – their Shabbos candles pervades both their own hearts, the hearts of their husbands and children, and all who merit to feel its glow, in the notion, that there is hope, there is confidence, there is faith!

And perhaps, even more importantly, when the very fabric of our dignity, has been so violently degraded; when instead of seeing ourselves as made in G-d’s image, the insidious effect of social programing, and debased human instincts, has convinced most of the modern world “we are made in the image of apes” – meant to fulfill, our every instinctual whim, debased sexual desires – it is the Jewish women, the righteous Jewish women and girls, remaining strong in their conviction that a princess has dignity, she is not the whim of the basest foolishness of instinctual narcissism; she is the holder of the future, the actual creator of life – and so demonstrating her intuition, her wisdom, she debases herself not through senseless aping of modern dress codes – her inner dignity assured, she maintains both her dignity of self, through not only a regal poise, but also a regal attire – like Devorah the prophetess, she dresses Tznuis, and it is in this silent yet proud demeanor, in this regal yet humble style, that the truth of G-d’s most precious daughter, becomes most valued, apparent, and endeared, via Respect, by all thinking hearts!
