The great secret to life is rotzu vshuv

Until we understand the mechanism, we, well can’t understand anything; for everything runs according to this mechanism!
One of the primary reasons for creation of man is in order for God to grow.
You see, in our weakness we have a gift that even God doesn’t.
Namely, God is perfect, hence can’t become more perfect.
However, we are very very imperfect, hence, can always become better.
Now rotzu vshuv is the mechanism through which growth occurs.
For example, our sages teach, “Tzaddkim, righteous people, have no peace, neither in this world nor the next,” for it states, “Yeilchu mechayil el chayil.”
They are always ascending level after level.
So much like a person going floor to floor, even via elevator, but if he gets off on each floor, takes a stroll; then back onto the elevator; he has not much peace, though of course a eternally richer life!
Similarly, on a very cosmic scale, reality consists of three stages leading into this infinite ying and yang, rotzu vshuv process, right here on earth.
Creation is the beginning, the ultimate shuv, the independent being.
Then comes Torah, perhaps the ultmate ratzu, the notion that beyond us is another infinite being, to whom all allegiance must be.
But all of that, as the Rebbe always pointed out, is never to leave our dimension into a higher spiritual one, rather, to merge the spirit into the matter, to transform the mundane into spirituality!
The ultimate point of reality is ironically, not escaping, but imbuing the physical from the spiritual!
We see this in the very structure of Judaism.
First came Shabbos, and then we take that lofty dimension into the weekdays, first comes prayer and we then imbue that lofty dimension into our workday.
But ultimately, we arive at the highest stratum, wherein God himself, the Creator of this ying and yang process descends, as he has, into our realm and now the capability for infinite growth, continual revelation and integration of continuously higher realms to descend into ours indefinitely, TAKES PLACE!
