The great challenge of life, is, it takes love to care! but in a sense, the opposite of love, namely hard nosed self-discipline to act – this is why God begins our lives in an expansive euphoric loving sense – but then contracts our behavior (for the expansionist state of love is not disciplined, which is why it is neither effective (apart from maybe making friends) nor regulated (which is why we can get addicted to bad people, stuff etc.) However, the goal is, once we have contracted – focused – become disciplined; to introduce a balanced true state of compassion
