The God created in his image, not man’s image

One of the biggest, if not impossible to not make – mistakes, man makes, when defining God, is we define him relative to all that is noble in man’s mind

I once heard a religious German – someone truly who meant well – say, “God is a God of order”

Now Germans obsessed with order, would say that, God is a God of order, for, for, them, to say, that God is unorderly would be to reduce God to some kind of substandard state

To a Jew, God is good

To a radical, God is egotistical

God is anthropomorphized – takes on the “best” of human description

Of course, only the infinite can define Himself, and we cannot define the infinite

So let’s take a look at how God is defined according to Kabbalah – received wisdom about God from God

  • God is indefinable
  • God is the power of both infinity and the power of limits (sort of like your computer works on binary code, namely 0 and 1, and the many alternative on / off states, create all computer code, translating to everything you see.)
  • God is the ultimate goodness
  • God has free choice
  • God is merciful, compassionate etc.
  • God gives man (especially Jews) freedom to choose between good or bad
