The four gpss of life

We are obviously born not as intellectual beings; like little animals, we are attracted to that which gives us pleasure, say food, love, and retract from that which gives us pain
But ultimately, what distinguishes us from animals, is our ability to discern
The reality is, that all emotions – even good ones are not the way to live, for the same heart that loves, is the same heart that fears; the heart that can give unstintingly, is the heart, when angered, can maim unstintingly.
Hence, we must realize, that fundamentally, all humans are similar.
If we want to be like the saints, and not like the terrible savages (who obviously were not born, but became that way, indicating that unfortunately our potential is in either extreme) we need to imitate them.
All the saints, from Abraham to Mosses to the Lubavitcher Rebbe had a single all-encompassing principle, in how they lived their lives, and that was to subjugate their ego, their opinion, for God’s instruction, for God’s definition of right and wrong!
For remember, no-one, even not Hitler – ever consciously thought they were evil, in fact, consciously the mind rationalizes every human desire, hence when jealousy becomes the gps (which is based usually on low self-esteem, hence jealousy towards those with good ones; hence four thousand years of anti-Semitism, current anti-Americanism, current hatred of Israel etc.) the mind does its job at showing the person, how the other deserves to God-forbid be exterminated.
