The five essential ingredients (causing happiness instead of sadness God-forbid)

By zevi770 · December 9, 2014

Security (when we are God-forbid worried, we cannot be happy, so hopefully there is nothing to worry about, but if there is, the way to overcome this depends on the cause of worry – if it is caused by anxiety, remember God loves you! and everything he does is only a long term gain for a short term pain! – if it is caused by anxiety if you are good or not – that is actually a trick of the yetzer hara (a demon created to challenge man who uses guilt to primarily cause us to feel depressed, so we succumb to later temptation, to alleviate our pain) According to Judaism, one should never worry about their failings, for either they are busy doing good or they are doing Teshuvah, which is an active process in which we decide to change, but ignore if you are good or not!)

Hope (we must believe that things will be bright in the future! which is simply to believe in Moshiach! whose light, namely peace in the world, is infinitely more prevalent in the last fifty years than all of human history!! which is not random, it is due to his intending arrival, when there will only be good forevermore!)

Purpose (we must feel like our lives are meaningful and the only way to do this, is to actually make them meaningful – it doesn’t matter how large or small the meaning is, but if you are actually doing something toward helping others, that will make you feel like your life is meaningful!)

Feeling loved (we are all social creatures, hence the need to feel loved – remind yourself of all the people who have and do love you!)

Forgiveness (holding onto resentment is as one psychologist said “Taking poison and waiting for your enemy to die” – so using the technique to abate worry, believe, that any negative was God’s long term positive!)
