The disciples of the Baal Shem Tov once asked him, what is the aim of Torah and Mitzvahs, and he replied: once the son of the king got lost in the desert, and a simple Shepherd saw him, and he took this bedraggled hungry young man into his little hut, and he gave him the best slice of bread he had; and the best sheet, he put on the floor for him to sleep; and directed him home -and then when the prince returned, he ordered that the shepherd be brought to him and he gave him more honor and wealth, than all the other ministers
