The devils servant

Kabbalah teaches, the entire universe is within us, God and the satan, good and evil, are equally, proportionally, mixed within us!

Before Adam ate of the forbidden fruit, the world was separated, this world was the Garden of Eden, God was here and the satan, the devil, all curled up in a talking snake!

The satan was outside of man, but boy did he strike cunningly, and quickly!

For all Adam had to do, was a wait a few hours, just until Shabbos, and the whole world would have earned messianic redemption.

But that’s the point, the more important something is, the more effort the satan puts into destroying it!

So within a few hours, he had convinced Eve (who actually understood this was God’s intent, which is why she convinced Adam) and when they ate that forbidden fruit, what happened was, evil no more was an outside realm; and this world was impervious to it; evil entered; the satan entered man himself! to the extent, we say, that God desired that he should not eat of the fruit of life, for then evil would remain, part and parcel of humanity, forever!

But here’s the deal, God wanted him to eat that fruit (as Eve understood) for ultimately, God desires not angels, he desires free-choice, you and me, not the bumblebees (I just like that rhyme: ) who discerns between light and darkness, as the Bible teaches “I am giving you life and death, light and darkness, and choose life!”

In other words, God created a free choice being!

Why?

Because, if we have no free choice, if we don’t choose our own decisions, we are not individuals; we are robots; maybe in the case of angels, holy robots! but robots nonetheless, (which is why they are called animals, for they work on instincts, alone!)

Now to give us free choice, God mixed himself and the devil, the satan in us.

Quite succinctly (no offence, it’s in all of us) humility, which leads to compassion (for we identify, hence love, hence feel compassion when we are humble!) and ego, arrogance, being filled with ones self-importance, which leads to arrogance, which leads to insensitivity (for we don’t have compassion on whom we feel greater than, just as one usually walks, not caring if they step on an ant!)
