The bottom line of life is actually very simple, but very difficult, for simply put, if you are playing a video game and the guy who made the game tells you where to go, you will succeed; the trouble is, that we humans have an ego and evil people will always use shame-bullying to cower good people into being evil (for fundamentally, they are jealous of their happiness, as the saying, there is no internal peace for the wicked, they themselves being victims of abuse etc. etc.)
