The Baal Shem Tov gives an example of a king with magical powers and he wanted to see the wisdom of his people; so he invited everyone to see him, but in the outside rooms of the palace, he put beautiful diamonds and gold – I’m adding here – the most beautiful paintings, the most gorgeous decorations any man had ever seen; so some people came and looked at all these things, for they were just enthralled, they had never seen anything like it! but the simple people who had no appreciation for these artistic objects, went straight to the king! in a similar sense, our best bet is to be simple, for when we are simple, we realize the truth!
